🎾 New to Triples Tennis? We’ve Gotcha! 💪

Forget everything you know about serious tennis. Triples is 3-on-3 chaos... but organized chaos! It's a fantastic, social way to run around and maybe hit a few winners.

📜 The Super-Simple Rules (Don't Overthink It)

Players

3 vs. 3. You have a left, a middle, and a right player.

Court

You use the full doubles court (including the alleys).

Serving

The server serves from behind the baseline, just like normal tennis.

Return

The returning team can only use one player to return the serve.

Volleys

All 3 players on a team must touch the ball before your opponents can touch it again.

Scoring

Same as normal tennis: love, 15, 30, 40, deuce, ad-in/out.

🧠 The MOST Important Rule: The "Three-Touch" Rule

This is the key difference and where the fun is!

  • When your opponent hits the ball to your side: Your team MUST hit the ball three times (by three different players) before sending it back over the net.

    • Player 1 (Receiver) hits it to Player 2.

    • Player 2 hits it to Player 3.

    • Player 3 hits it over the net. POINT CONTINUES!

  • If you hit it over the net on the first or second touch? Your opponents win the point. (It's a gift to them!)

  • The only exception: The initial SERVE is returned normally by one player. The Three-Touch rule starts on the second shot of the rally.

💡 Triples Strategy for Newbies

  1. Communicate: Yell "MINE!" or "YOURS!" constantly. It's half the fun.

  2. Stay Spaced Out: Try not to run into each other (it's called a "Triples High-Five" and usually means you lost the point).

  3. The Middle Player is the MVP: This person is often the "setter" and plays a lot of defense. Love your middle person!

  4. Embrace the Chaos: You will miss easy shots and hit amazing winners. Laugh at the former, celebrate the latter.

Now get out there and serve some fun! See you on the court!
